The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), located near the city of Portimão, 30 minutes´ drive from our resort, is the solution for the motorsport industry and to enable manufacturers and racing teams to test, develop, present and launch their products. The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve was opened in November 2018 with, as inaugural race, the final round of the Superbike World Championship.
Thanks to the technicalities of its design, the uniqueness of its circuit with uphill and downhill sections and the 32 different track configurations, including a Formula 1 approved by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and Superbikes with the seal of approval from the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), it has received the highest praise from top drives around the globe. Next to the racetrack is also the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve (a Go-Kart circuit).

Used since 2008 for F1 pre-season testing by several drivers as Daniel Ricciardo, Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas during their junior carreers, the track was the home of the recent Formula 1 Heineken Grande Prémio de Portugal 2020, the twelfth round of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship.
Forty-eight hours after its opening, the track was honoured to receive its FIM certification and was inaugurated with the final round of the World Superbike Championships. Since then, it has received many other bike events including MotoGP.
